Francesco Bagnaia of Ducati, Misano Adriatico (Reuters), Italy, survived a postponed attack from globe championship leader Fabio Quartararo, that won the San Marino Grand Prix on Sunday and also won his 2nd successive MotoGP title.
Paul Sitter Banyaia lowered the Italian advantage to two-tenths by leading 2.7 secs on a phase prior to Quartararo shut the void on the final lap.
Avintia Ducati's newbie Enea Tierney enjoyed a great race to get to the debut podium after beginning 12th on the grid. Repsol Honda's Marc Marquez completed in fourth place.
Quartararo, that originally struggled to equal Ducati as well as Jack Miller of Banyaia, overtook Australia in second place with 14 laps staying, yet was unable to surpass Banyaia, that also won Aragon last week. The declining Miller finished in fifth area.
" I recognized I was having a bit of a hard time with the soft rear tires, so I tried to push in the initial couple of laps to fill up the space," stated Banyaia.
" The last 10 laps when Fabio was recuperating was very challenging ... he got a little much better in the tail end, but today was incredible.
" 2 consecutive wins are extraordinary to me. I was having a difficult time winning the first race ... I was missing something. Currently I am very satisfied."
Quartararo stated he did his finest to it.
" There were a few minutes to load the void, but today Pekko (Bagnaia) went to an additional degree ... however I still have a great lead in the champion so I did my task today," he claims. I did.
The French are 48 points in advance of Banyaia in the remaining four rounds.
Former World Champ Valentino Rossi ended up in 17th place, a disappointment for Petronas Yamaha, while Spain's present World Champion Joan Mir completed 6th in Suzuki.
